HELLENIC CONTAINER TRANSPORT SA (HCT) is a family owned business founded in 1978. The company’s activities comprise of container sale & purchase, container depots, stuffing – stripping, and container transports.
During the years HCT managed to become the leader in our market, managing 4 container depots strategically situated for the needs of container transports, with a total of 150.000 sq.m container storage area.
Moreover our fleet is the largest specialized for container transports consisting of private-owned trucks, in-house partners and other partners capable to undertake a transport project of any volume.

The present management has at least thirty years of experience in Container Shipping Lines, with extensive knowledge of intermodalism, container maintenance and repairs while holding senior posts in container lines. This in-depth knowledge of the container industry needs, and our philosophy of customer service being a top priority, provides the optimum transport solutions to our customers whether shipping line, forwarder or shipper / consignee.

FIRM SURFACE:
Because the tractor and trailer weigh in excess of 30,000 lb. most drivers will not drive off of a road or paved surface. In considering the resting location for a container, if your location is any distance from a well-packed road or driveway, it is best to discuss this with the trucking company delivering the container prior to scheduling the delivery. Issues such as slope, amount of moisture in the ground and driver experience all need to be considered before any off road delivery is attempted.
SURFACE UNDER THE CONTAINER:
Containers are designed to be supported at each of the 4 corners. Supports or piers at the mid length of a 40 foot container will be of no benefit in normal applications. The ends can be supported with a concrete footing, railroad ties, asphalt or a bed of gravel. Although it is possible to land the container directly on the ground with no support, the best site is one that provides suitable stability to keep the container level with adequate drainage.
TURNING SPACE:
Because the crane drives the container at the back or side of the trailer, you will need more than 5 metres of space in front of the location where the container is to be landed. Some delivery companies operate a 2 axle bobtail that, for delivery of a 20' container, will require 40 feet of turn space.
OVERHEAD CLEARENCE:
Because the container will be delivered on a slide off trailer make sure you have at lease 14 feet of overhead clearance on the road to the delivery site and 20 feet of overhead clearance at the location where the truck will tilt the container to slide it off. This means all trees and overhead wires must be out of the way!
DOOR ALIGNMENT:
Occasionally after a container is delivered the doors may be difficult to close. Because the container weights 2,000-4,000 kg or more there will be some settling and it is possible that the doors will be difficult to operate. If this occurs the container can be straightened by lifting the low or settled corner and inserting some material that will re-support the corner and return the door to proper alignment.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FROM THE TIME I ORDER?
Normal delivery time can be as quick as two to seven business days providing you are not having any modifications done to the unit. If you need something sooner, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.
WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT IS REQUIRED UPON DELIVERY?
For rentals, we collect the first two month's rent, plus delivery and pickup fees and a guarantee. For purchase, we collect the total sales price including delivery charge and sales tax. We accept personal or business checks, cash.
WHAT TYPE OF MODIFICATIONS ARE AVAILIBLE?
We can add extra doors, turbine vents, windows, partitions, as well as cut containers down to custom sizes. Other non standard modifications are also available.
HOW IS MY LOCK PROTECTED?
All of our rental storage containers come equipped with a steel lock box welded to the outside of the unit. The lock box conceals and protects your lock from being tampered with. If you plan to purchase a container we would recommend a lock box addition to your container.
ARE THE CONTAINERS WEATHERPROOF?
Yes. We water-test all of our storage containers before they leave our delivery yard to be sure they do not leak. The containers are completely enclosed and will keep wind and rain out so your contents stay dry and secure.
***When the interior temperature becomes lower then the outside condensation can occur within the container. The amount of condensation is minimal although as a disclaimer small amounts of moisture can form within the container. WHAT IF MY CONTAINER NEEDS REPAIR?
Hellenic Container Transport will maintain the unit throughout the term of the rental period. If you need maintenance, simply give us a call and we will come out promptly. Regular maintenance repairs are free of charge.
WHAT COLOR ARE THE CONTAINERS?
“As is” containers come in various colors and labeled from the shipping line. Our standard rental units are painted beige color to blend in with your surroundings. Sale units can be painted a variety of colors. We recommend neutral colors that blend in such as beige, gray, light green, or dark green. Refrigerated Containers for sale
Hellenic Container Transport provides electrical powered refrigerated rental containers for your location. Temperature sensitive commodities can be safe in a controlled environment from negative 20 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. All refrigerated rental containers are tested and maintained to operate properly under either 3 phase 220 volt, or 3 phase 440 volt. These containers are made for shipping purpose, designed and constructed to withstand the elements and rigorous conditions and are therefore a very popular solution for temperature controlled self storage.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
ELEMENTS THAT WILL IMPACT THE PERFORMANCE OF A REFRIGERATED STORAGE CONTAINER:
It is best to designate a person to regularly monitor the units performance
Proper air circulation both inside and outside the container. The interior floor air space (under the “T” surface) and the ceiling air space (above the red load line) must be kept clear to facilitate proper air flow and cooling through out the container. The area outside the container must provide for adequate airflow through the condenser, to insure peak performance. The electrical power supply must be reliable and within the design ranges at the supply panel. The doors are only to be opened for loading and when closed must be fully closed. When the doors are opened, warmer moisture laden air will come into the container; this will cause an increased temperature inside the container and necessitate frequent defrosting of the evaporator coil. The controls are meant to be set and left alone, any adjustment of settings or controls by non-qualified personnel could result in a performance failure. Regularly confirm that the unit is cooling properly, that the condensing and evaporator fans are operating quietly and that the floor and condensate drains are open and working. If your operation requires the doors to be open for extended periods of time, consider purchasing a clear plastic strip curtain to help reduce the temperature loss. Customers

The fleet comprises modern properly equipped trucks for all types of containers. Special light-weight trailers are used for the haulage of heavy containers as well as lowbed special transport vehicles for 20’ and 40’ ft.

75,000 m2 fenced and guarded terminal located at Aspropyrgos Attica adjacent to National roads 1 and 2, and close to Piraeus container terminal. This is the largest private container depot in Greece and has access onto Attiki Odos motorway. Moreover a warehouse of 1800 m2 is available for container logistics operations. Normal working hours: 07.00 -19.00. Round the clock is possible on inducement. KERATSINI TERMINAL:
27,000 m2 fenced, asphalt paved and guarded terminal at Schisto Avenue within walking distance from the gate of Piraeus SEMPO container terminal. This terminal is instrumental in effecting quick and flexible operations in and out of the SEMPO Terminal. Normal working hours: 07.00 - 19.00. Round the clock working is possible on inducement.
